Safety Tips for Your Home

Unfortunately burglaries drastically increase during the warmer weather and the following are some tips to help protect your home just a little bit more.
DO have a neighbor, family member or friend collect mail, newspapers, or anything else that may indicate that the home is unoccupied.

DON'T ever post your vacation plans on any social networking sites. Burglars use sites such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. to target your home while you're on vacation, probably under the assumption that your home and belongings are safe.

DO make sure that your home looks like it is being lived in.  For example, you can set timers for the lights to come on and off periodically throughout the day, making it a little more difficult for an intruder to know whether someone is or isn't in the home.

DON'T leave any valuables out where they can be seen from outside the window.  However, in any event, valuables should always be kept in a safe place.

DO keep record of all valuables including pictures and any serial numbers.

DON'T ever leave a spare key anywhere outside of your home.  As you may think it's a good idea for an emergency situation, unfortunately that isn't so much the case. Imagine the traumatic situation that may unravel before you, if a burglar were to find the key.

DO yourself and your family a favor by giving us a call to schedule a free home security review and protect the most important thing you can lose, your PEACE OF  MIND

Please do not be another statistic and advise your family and friends of the damage that can be done both physically and emotionally. With that said, please refer anyone that can benefit from some important information and make it a safe summer.

To further protect your home, the ADT Pulse home security system will provide the highest standard of safety. Program your security system and home automation (door locks, thermostat and lighting control) for while you are on vacation all from your personalized ADT Pulse web portal. For example a few of the safety benefits are:
  • The ability to access your home security system remotely, perhaps to check the status of your home security system or to remotely arm or disarm the ADT Pulse security system.
  • With ADT Pulse thermostat control you have the option of turning your thermostat lower or higher via your mobile device or set a schedule for when your away on vacation.
  • ADT Pulse lamp modules give you the capability of scheduling your lights to turn on and off. This will be very helpful in a situation when you are away on vacation and need your home to seem as though it is being lived in. Create a weekly light schedule by day and time that is similar to your normal daily schedule.
  • Automated ADT Pulse deadbolt locks allow you to check to see that you locked your door before leaving on vacation. If you forgot to lock it before you left, just use your ADT Pulse App from your mobile device to lock your front door. The ADT Pulse deadbolt lock also provides key-less entry so there is no need for you to leave the pet sitter your key or hide it under the mat and the lock provides lock bumping protection with BumpGuard.
  • ADT Pulse cameras will give you the ability to keep your eye on things at home while your away. Also have the cameras set up to send you a video clip via text or email anytime their is motion in front of the camera.  You can view the cameras live from your mobile device as well.
  • You can also set up a vacation mode from your ADT web portal that does all the above with a simple touch of one button.
