If you are not from Bakersfield, you might look at Bakersfield as the mid-point between San Francisco and Los Angeles. However, don't be fooled by the lack of recognition. Bakersfield has some exciting events, and many taking place in March. This is one of the most beautiful times of year. The time leading from winter into spring. There is just enough sun and color coming back to the trees, yet no temperatures over 100 yet. It's hard to stay indoors any longer. Here are a few great reasons to leave your home. Have you ever wanted to go to Daytona 500 but can't? Well, our very own [Kern County Raceway](http://kernraceway.com/) has a host of events that will make you feel like you are at the races. You can even rent the track for a day of high speed action with friends. Make sure to check out Visit Bakersfield.com for an ongoing list of great activities. One highlight is "[The new road to Rosedale.](http://www.themelodrama.com/)" A new musical featured at [The Gaslight Melodrama Theatre & Music hall](http://www.themelodrama.com/next-season/). Bud and Earl Halderman have been traveling around California, trying to break into show business with no success. They hear of a new road being built to a wondrous new place called, "Rosedale", they can't help but think this might be their one, last shot at making their dreams come true.  Playing through mid March, this play is getting rave reviews.  With all this great weather, and a host of events to attend, staying home every night just isn't a option. However, you still want to make sure while you're not home, someone uninvited isn't lurking around. It's very important to protect your [Bakersfield home with a monitored ADT security system](https://www.californiasecuritypro.com/home-security-bakersfield-ca) because you never know when disaster will happen.
