Let the countdown to 2015 begin! December has arrived in the City of Anaheim. With the holiday season in full swing, there is no shortage of activities to enjoy with family and friends right here in Anaheim. The 20th Nutcracker Christmas Tree Lighting and Holiday Village will be held on December 6, 2014 in Downtown Anaheim from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM. There will be free kids craft activities, a family music show, snow to play in, free train rides, an international food fair, and of course photos with Santa. The [OC Brew Ho Ho](http://www.ocbrewhoho.com/) (Southern California's largest holiday ale festival) will be held at the Phoenix Club in Anaheim on December 13, 2014 from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. This event features more than 50 craft beers (unlimited tasting), great food and classic holiday tunes. If you feel like giving back this season, but haven't figured out exactly how the [SeniorServ](http://www.communityseniorserv.com/) program is looking for volunteer delivery drivers in the Anaheim area. This organization offers delivered meals and friendly visits to elderly home-bound senior adults. If you have the time, this opportunity could give you the chance to really brighten someones day.
During the holiday season we see an increase in property related crimes. From petty theft to burglaries and vehicle break-ins, this season can bring out the best and worst in some neighborhoods. Keep up with [Anaheim crime](https://www.californiasecuritypro.com/anaheim-crime/) and follow the news for any specific warnings. [Home Security in Anaheim](https://www.californiasecuritypro.com/home-security-anaheim-ca/) should be a top priority this holiday season. Consider protecting your [Anaheim home with a monitored ADT security system](https://www.californiasecuritypro.com/adt-home-security/adt-range-county/adt-anaheim-ca/) as a gift to your entire family this holiday season.
If you've already installed an ADT monitored home security system, arming your system daily should be incorporated into your daily routine. Take full advantage of the peace of mind you invested in! If you went with an [ADT Pulse security system](https://www.californiasecuritypro.com/adt-pulse/) rest assured that no matter where your holiday plans may take you, you will enjoy the ability to arm/disarm your security system remotely, program text and email notifications and alarm arm/disarm scheduling all from your mobile device!
If you haven't gotten around to arming your home with an ADT monitored alarm system, October is the perfect month to schedule a [ FREE Home Security Review](https://www.californiasecuritypro.com/your-free-home-security-review/). Make sure your home is armed and secure before the holidays. Typically we can schedule installation of your ADT home security system within 48 hours of a consultation with the your ADT Anaheim Security Consultant. Call 1-800-310-9490 for more information.
## Protecting Against Garage Door Break Ins- Crime Prevention Safety Tips
Garage doors are a common weak point when looking at security in a
whole-home approach. That makes them an easy target for thieves. Garage doors are
not only a weakness, but provide criminals a shelter once inside. To the
casual passerby an open garage with a work truck pulled up to it may
not look out of place or scream break-in.
1. Don't leave the garage door remote in your vehicle. If a thief breaks into your car and steals the remote, he has a way into your home.
2. Keep it locked.- Put a deadbolt on the door-bolt on the door between your house and garage.
3. Make sure the door from your garage into your house is a sturdy door made out of solid-core wood or reinforced steel.
4. Don't leave your garage door open. It's just inviting someone to pop their heads in and grab something. Criminals like like to drive through to case houses.
5. Install a wide- angle peephole in the door between your house and your garage-- You'll at least be able to see what's going on if you hear a strange noise; rather than opening the door to find out.
6. Frost or cover your garage windows. Don't do thieves any favors by enabling them to see when your vehicle is gone. A better idea would be to not have windows at all.
Padlock the throw latch on your garage door when you're out of town. If you don't have a manual lock on your garage door, you can use a c-clamp tightened down on each side of the door track to effectively "lock" down the door. It's similar to those small window track locks you can buy for your home interior windows.
