ADT Pulse is a line of security and management systems for homes and businesses from America's most trusted company, ADT. California Security Pro offers the full line of ADT Pulse interactive solutions starting at just $49.99 per month. ADT Pulse can be designed to work in any size home or business. You can customize your system by adding ADT Pulse cameras for video monitoring as well as Z-Wave compatible devices for home automation.

Once ADT Pulse has been installed you can then personalize your system by creating unique automations, schedules and alerts. You can also add additional devices to the system at any time. Some devices, such as lamp modules can be simply plugged into existing electrical outlets similar to the way you use an automatic timer. Equipment FAQs for ADT Pulse

1. What kind of equipment will I need for ADT Pulse technology to be installed?

For Level 1 Pulse that allows you to remotely arm or disarm your system, receive text/email alerts and schedule events, no special home equipment is needed. We will install the complete system that can be accessed from any Internet ready device such as a smart phone, tablet or PC.

For the more advanced Level 2 or 3 Pulse system that allows video monitoring and home automation, we will access your high-speed Internet connection. The installer will connect the ADT Pulse gateway to an open port on your router.

2. What are the computer requirements?

PC:  Microsoft Windows XP, Vista or Windows 7

Mac: OS 10.5 (Leopard) or later versions 

Acceptable Browsers: Internet Explorer 7 or later versions; Mozilla Firefox version 5 and 6 and Apple Safari versions 3.2.3 and 4.0 --later versions of each browser will also work.

3. What are the software requirements for PC or Mac?

The latest version of Java and Quicktime applications are required. If you are unsure you have the right versions, go to the websites below and get your FREE downloads.

4. Can I use VoIP/digital phone service?

In most instances, ADT's alarm monitoring services works with many VoIP providers that have a qualified managed facility voice network such as Comcast and AT&T Uverse. As long as you have phone service that is compatible, we use that connection for transmitting alarm signals and events to ADT's alarm monitoring stations. 

5. Will cameras interfere with my Internet connection speed?

The video cameras only push video out when an event occurs or when you log in to see live video so the effect on your broadband should be minimal. 

6. What Wi-Fi speed is required to use an ADT Pulse system?

Any cable or DSL speed that is equal to or higher than 256kbps up/1.5mbps down should work with cameras connected to the ADT Pulse system. If your broadband connections are less than this you many not be able to support more than two cameras. Satellite Internet services may result in more ADT Pulse outage notifications due to weather conditions and is not recommended.

7. What is Z wave technology and what devices are available?

Z-wave is a wireless technology used to control your ADT Pulse devices remotely. Here are some of the Z-wave-enabled devices available:  

• Thermostat Controls -- turn your thermostat lower or higher remotely
• Lamp Modules -- turn your lights on and off remotely
• Deadbolt Locks -- lock and unlock your door remotely
