Visit Griffith Park. I know what you're thinking... who doesn't know about Griffith Park? Especially after it being highlighted in one 2016's biggest movies La La Land. But do you know all that you can do there? Ride a horse, put your wee ones on a horse, visit the observatory, see Kidz Bop Live on June 10th and UB40 on July 16th (I've seen UB40 at the Greek and it was AMAZING!!!) Within the various areas are concessions, golf courses, picnic grounds, pony and train rides, and tennis courts. There's probably something to do at Griffith Park that you haven't done yet, the weather is perfect. Now is the time to go re-explore Griffith Park.
Been to the Santa Monica Pier lately... I know, again, everyone knows about the pier. Unless you're super local, you might not know about all the events there are. Come Saturday morning for interactive kids concerts. Running through May 20th, come out at 10:30 Saturday mornings and let someone else entertain you kids. Or go to trapeze school. When’s the last time you tried something new? Something daring? Fly above the Pier and master the art. It's a great exercise and even greater fun.
More than the just a visit to the perfect beach, the Santa Monica pier is packed with things to do. There's a complete amusement park to explore, and if all the "pier food" isn't for you, you can play, roller blade and sun, then head across the way to Third Street Promenade and watch the artists, visit the farmers' market on Wednesdays and shop 'til you drop.
If you aren't too tired after that, hit the coolest LA hot spot. This one is actually a real secret...
Los Angeles may have its share of ultra-hyped hidden bars, but our best one's a real artifact The Del Monte Speakeasy actually served up drinks during prohibition to thirsty patrons and is cleverly hidden by Menotti's grocery store on the street level. A great place to go to when you need to get "groceries". It's located at 52 Winward in Venice right below the store. There's no website but a quick Google search will find you several write ups and some Yelp reviews that will intrigue you to visit. It's worth the effort to find this hidden gem.
