How-to use my ADT Security System

Q. How do I reset my keypad after an alarm event?
You may want to clear the keypad display history after an alarm event. The process of resetting your keypad varies from system to system. Reset instructions for ADT’s most popular systems can be found on our Reset System page. For all other systems, please refer to your security system user’s manual for specific instructions. 

Q. How do I test my system?
It’s easy to test your system; just refer to your owner handbook or call 1-888-238-7374 and follow the simple instructions. Section 3 of this blog further describes testing your system. 

Q. How to turn on the chimes on my Control Panel?
There are a few panels currently used, below is how you activate the chime function for most panels. For older panels you can refer to this link for user manuals

To turn the door chime function on or off, press and hold the Chime key for 2 seconds or press *4.

Q. What ways can I arm my system? How do I do it?
Your system can be armed to 4 different ways, Stay, stay with no delay, away and away with no delay. See the blog for more detail. 

Q. How do I view the status of my ADT security system from my mobile devices when I am not home?
From your mobile phone, use https://mobile.adtpulse.com.

If you have an Android, iPhone, iPad or iPod touch mobile device, you may download the app free of charge from the Android Market or Apple’s App Store and then use your login credentials to access your system.

Q. My invitation to log in to the ADT Pulse portal has expired. How do I obtain a new invitation?
Call ADT at 1-888-238-7374 and have them resend it.

Q. How do I set up my myADT.com account?
Setting up your myADT.com account couldn't be easier. Go to myADT.com or download the myADT.com app for Android or iOS system and follow the instructions. For step by step instructions with screen shots see this blog.

Q. How do I set up schedules with my ADT Pulse system? 
Schedules are set up in your on-line web portal. 
Schedules are events that happen at a scheduled time like having exterior lights come on daily or just week days at a set time. Check-out this blog for step by step instructions

Q. How do I set up alerts with my ADT Pulse system? 
Alerts are set up in your on-line web portal. Alerts are text and/or email message that are sent to alert you that a specific action occurred at the house, like your alarm sounded or your child arrived home from school.  Check-out this blog for step by step instructions

Q. How do I set up automations with my ADT Pulse system? 
Automations are set up in your on-line web portal. Automations are events that occur because something else happened to trigger it. This can be an event like it reaching a certain temperature, activating the thermostat or recording a video clip when a door is opened. Check-out this blog for step by step instructions

Q. How do I set up a mode with my ADT Pulse system? 
Modes are set up in your on-line web portal. Modes are a pre-set cluster of events and actions that happen when the system is put in that mode. Setting a vacation mode might trigger doors to lock, the alarm to set, the light to turn on and off at specific times or on a randomized schedule, cameras to perform a certain way and the thermostat to work on a certain time schedule. All of this can be set up ahead of time and is triggered every time you select that mode. Check-out this blog for step by step instructions.

Q. How do I set up a small appliance to be controlled by my ADT Pulse system?
Small appliance modules or lamp modules are plugged in to the wall and then the small appliance is plugged into the module and that's it. The appliance has to be set to always on so that the power is only turned on or off by the module itself.
